Our Mission & Guiding Principles

Mission

To provide support and increase life participation for stroke survivors and their families

Guiding Principles

  • Recognizing the diversity among stroke survivors and their families, SAM works to create a welcoming and inclusive environment
  • SAM’s programming is evidence-based and informed by membership needs
  • SAM encourages mentoring and peer support in stroke recovery

Long-term Impact

Stroke survivors have the confidence and support to make the choices that meet their needs

Adapted Exercise

Members: $5 per class

Non-members: $10 per class

Drop-ins always welcomed!

Every Tuesday (11-11:45 am) @ SAM Centre

With guidance from the qualified licensed therapist, participants move through a series of fluid group and individual exercises and activities designed to keep muscles and joints limber, flexible and strong.

Speakeasy

FREE

Fridays 11:00 AM @ SAM Centre

A speaking group for anyone who has trouble speaking their mind, telling a joke or even (GASP!) speaking in public; in other words, everyone. Bring a joke if you have one handy. This is a perfect, friendly environment for anyone to practice a speech before they present it. Nothing beats speaking for making better communicators.

Games Day

Small fee for special meals and events

Thursdays 11:00am-2:00 pm @ SAM Centre

The Games Day group meets for games including Cribbage and Sequence. All are welcome.
